Couple / Family Counselling

Deciding whether you and your partner need to go couples counselling or not? It can be hard to take the step to seek support in your relationship. You may feel that you are admitting your relationship is not perfect or you don’t simply find it useful.

Couple and Family Therapy addresses the behaviours of all family members and the way these behaviours affect not only individual family members, but also relationships between family members and the family unit as a whole. Regardless of whether a problem appears to be within an individual or within a family, getting other family members involved in the therapeutic process will result in more effective solutions.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR has been well researched and scientifically studied. It has been recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Psychiatric Association (APA) for treating people suffering from post- traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma related issues.

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.

ICBC Claims

For three months immediately following your motor vehicle accident you automatically qualify for ICBC's twelve (12) week pre-approved counselling sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor.

The aftermath of a motor vehicle accident can be very traumatic, whether you’re the driver, or a passenger.

Horizon can assist with addressing your concerns from anxiety, PTSD, pain management, and other areas. If you are currently involved in any legal proceeding involving ICBC and are using a lawyer, we will work with you and your lawyer to ensure that you receive the service you need and will provide reports to your lawyer as needed.

Extended Health Benefits

Extended Health Plan will reimburse you and your eligible dependents for some or all of the cost of many health-care services that are not covered by BC’s Medical Services Plan. Many Extended Health Care providers (EHCs) cover the cost of counselling. Check with your insurance provider what your yearly claimable limit is and if there is a cap on each individual session.
